The following letter was drafted earlier this week by our Chairman – Derek Isted – and will be sent out to Trade Stands & Sponsors later this week.
Dear Stand Holder,
Due to the current Coronavirus situation we find ourselves in, the Romney Marsh Ploughing and Cultivations Society have made the very difficult decision to cancel this year’s ploughing match, which was to be held on the 6th of September.
As this is my first year as Chairman, I am personally very disappointed, but I feel this is the only sensible and responsible conclusion to come to; especially considering that social distancing measures are almost certainly to still be in place during the coming months after lockdown has been lifted.
Across previous years, the RMPCS Committee have given donations to various charities and this year we would like to continue this. We would be pleased to welcome any donations to this year’s charities; Kent Air Ambulance, RNLI, Medical Detection Dogs and the local Scouts group to add to those that the Society will be giving.
We thank you in advance and wish you all good health in these difficult times and look forward to seeing you all in 2021.
